Research Interests: My research interests lie at the intersection of geology, geophysics, materials science, and engineering. I utilize a suite of both traditional and non-traditional experimental techniques to measure the friction and rheology of rocks and minerals at a variety of physical conditions and length scales. These experiments seek to provide laboratory constraints and to test hypotheses about large-scale geophysical and geodynamic questions related to the strength of the lithosphere and the origin of plate tectonics.
